School Council

The Beaumaris School Council is the formal governing body, working with staff in school development, policy development and ratification of operational and accountability requirements.  The Council is also the formal community voice in addressing community needs, concerns and suggestions about the school.  Matters of teaching – learning relationships and curriculum remain the professional responsibility of the teaching staff.

Council Structure

The Council comprises of five community representative, four teacher representatives and the principal as executive officer.  All representatives are elected to Council by their corresponding constituents.  Some are elected for two years and others for one to maintain succession planning.  Its formal structure offers a businesslike forum to deal matters of urgency and importance that ultimately lead to improving student outcomes and the school’s good standing:

  • President - community representative
  • Vice President - community representative
  • Secretary - community representative
  • Councillors – 2 community representative; 4 staff representative

Council operations are and decisions are shared with the community via the President and the P&C representative and with the school via staff representatives.  The Council works in tandem with the P&C and staff to obtain feedback and information in assisting with decision making.
