Early Childhood Development Program
‘Parents as Partners’
(0-4 Social, Speech, Fine Motor, K Transition)
Beaumaris Primary School provides a range of support programs for the school community. The Early Childhood Development Program is one that shares developmental awareness and strategies to address needs of children aged 0-4 years. The Program aims to empower parents with both knowledge and skills to support their children’s acquisition of: language skills; social skills; and fine motor skills required for both school and life long learning experiences.
An eight week empowerment program is conducted in Terms Two and Three. These consist of parent information sessions featuring guest speakers and early childhood educators, followed workshops where parents may try out their newly acquired knowledge and skills with their children. Trained staff will be on hand to give support where necessary.
The ‘Transition to Kindy Program’ is conducted in Term 4. The Program aims to welcome new and existing families into our school community in a non - threatening, friendly environment. The program will introduce children and parents to the culture of the school and the routines of the Kindy program.
The overall 0-4 focus also offers an opportunity to inform parents of other agencies that are available to support any child who may be experiencing difficulties (e.g. language or fine motor delays) before they commence Kindy the following year.
It is an extremely well patronised and popular program. Interested parents may download the application form for further information and register an expression of interest to be part of the program: 0-4 Skills Development Application Pamphlet
