LOTE
French has been taught at Beaumaris for many years, aligning students to French programs at Ocean Reef Senior High School. The program is available to all students in Years 3-7. The course has three strands:
- Oral Interaction
- Reading and Responding
- Writing.
A specialist teacher is employed to teach French.
In addition French language and culture are integrated into classrooms and other whole school activities such as assemblies, performances and displays. Integrated learning is effective, with LOTE teachers utilising multi media and LOTE themes linking back to classroom and sub school themes and activities.
The conclusion of the LOTE program in Year 7 is celebrated with a traditional ‘French Dinner’ at Frenchy’s in South Perth.
