Productive Pedagogy
'Productive Pedagogy' is a balanced theoretical framework, developed by the Queensland School Reform Longitudinal Study (QSRLS Lingard et al 2001), enabling teachers to reflect critically on their work. Teachers use the Productive Pedagogies framework to consider:
- Are all the students I teach, regardless of background, engaged in intellectually challenging and relevant curriculum in a supportive environment?
- How do my teaching and assessment practices support or hinder this?
- What opportunities do I have to critically reflect upon my work with colleagues?
The framework assists teachers with:
- reflecting on current classroom practices
- generating a professional language
- designing curriculum and learning experiences
- making intelligent decisions about individual student needs.
At Beaumaris, Productive Pedagogies are effective pedagogy, incorporating an array of teaching strategies that support classroom environments, and recognition of difference, and are implemented across all key learning and subject areas. Effective pedagogical practice promotes the well being of students, teachers and the school community. It improves students' and teachers' confidence and contributes to their sense of purpose for being at school; it builds community confidence in the quality of learning and collaborative teaching in the school.
