Early Childhood Program

'Parents as Partners'

(0-4 years Social, Speech, Fine Motor, K Transition)

Beaumaris Primary School provides a range of support programs for the school community.

The Early Childhood Development Program is one that shares developmental awareness and strategies to address needs for the 0 to 4 age group. It is based on the latest research and is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten while also identifying any development areas requiring support.

The Program aims to empower parents whose children are enrolled at the school with both knowledge and skills to support their children's acquisition of: language skills; social skills; and fine motor skills required for both school and lifelong learning experiences.

An eight week empowerment program is conducted in Terms Two and Three. These consist of parent information sessions featuring guest speakers and early childhood educators, followed workshops where parents may try out their newly acquired knowledge and skills with their children. Trained staff will be on hand to give support where necessary.

The 'Transition to Kindy Program' is conducted in Term 4 and aims to welcome new and existing families into our school community in a non - threatening, friendly environment. The program introduces children and parents to the culture of the school and the routines of the Kindergarten program.

The overall 0 to 4 years focus also offers an opportunity to inform parents of other agencies that are available to support any child who may be experiencing difficulties (e.g. language or fine motor delays) before they commence Kindy the following year. It is a well patronised and popular program.
