The Australian Curriculum strands of Mathematics are Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability. Within each area sit the four proficiency strands of Fluency, Understanding, Reasoning and Problem Solving. Mathematics is a key area of differentiated practice and it is integrated into other curriculum areas where possible. Our whole school approach to mental strategies through our ‘Ten a Day’ initiative helps to build and recall basic facts. Problem Solving and open ended tasks in all strands of Mathematics are a whole school focus. These support our students with developing critical thinking skills.
